We all have furniture in our houses and want to keep it looking nice. Unfortunately sometimes things happen; a drink will get spilled on the sofa or dirt from your dogs muddy feet will end up on your favorite chair. The furniture needs to be cleaned and it's better to use professional upholstery cleaners to get the job done right.
Upholstery Cleaning Methods
There are several types of methods that can be used. There is the wet method, the dry method and a combination of both.
Wet Upholstery Cleaning
The wet method is probably the most used and best way to clean deep down in the upholstery fabric. Carpet Cleaning Memphis technicians will use either a portable machine with an upholstery attachment or a truck mounted machine with a very long hose. Both furniture cleaning machines will apply a mixture of water and cleaning fluid to the upholstered furniture and vacuum the furniture at the same time. Pre-treat can be used on heavily soiled spots before the actual cleaning will be done.
Dry Upholstery Cleaning
The dry method also uses an extraction machine just like the wet method does. Dry cleaning chemicals are applies and usually agitated by hand, then vacuumed with the extraction machine. This method is used when wet chemicals are not advised due to allergies and fabric types.
Combination of Dry and Wet Upholstery Cleaning
A combination of the two methods can also be very effective. This technique allows a solvent barrier to be placed on the upholstery fabric to keep the fabric from soaking in water. The furniture can then be cleaned with a water method and dried with a special solvent. This process takes a little longer, but is very well worth the cost.
Any of these three methods can also be used on auto upholstery, as we are very good at spilling things as we drive.
